Tk125 crore boost for women entrepreneurs

The government has proposed allocating Tk125 crore in the fiscal year 2025-26 to give confidence women to gear up entrepreneurship.

Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed made the announcement during his budget speech on Monday.

"To ensure women's safety, skill-based programmes have been launched through the National Women's Training and Development Academy, with training also being provided at the upazila level through women's training centres," he said.

He went on to say that as part of larger initiatives to empower women and combat poverty, 20,000 selected women have already received training under the Vulnerable Group Development (VGD) program.

"To further improve the business environment for women entrepreneurs and strengthen their economic empowerment, I propose allocating Tk125 crore in the next fiscal year," the adviser said.
