GDP growth projected at 5.5 percent

The interim government has set a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth target of 5.5 percent for FY2025-26.

The GDP projection is somewhat higher than the revised 5.25% for the current fiscal year 2024-25.

The target was announced by Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed via a pre-recorded speech telecast on Monday.

He placed the national budget of Tk7,89,999 crore for FY26.

Meanwhile, international financial institutions, including the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the Asian Development Bank, said the country's growth will remain below 5 percent.
