Permanent commission on enforced disappearances to be formed: Asif Nazrul

Law Adviser Asif Nazrul has said a powerful, permanent commission on forced disappearances. It will start work after the present Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances' tenure ends. 

He made the remarks after a meeting with a two-member delegation from the UN Working Group on Enforced Disappearances at the Secretariat on Monday. 

It has been reported that the purpose of the UN delegation's visit this time is not to conduct direct investigations but to observe the situation and make recommendations based on their findings.

The delegation has praised the government's efforts to form the commission and related law, the adviser said. The delegation has also expressed the desire to help the government in this regard. 

The law will hopefully be formed within the next month, the adviser said.
