Tapasi Tabassum Urmi dismissed from job

The government has terminated administrative officer Tapasi Tabassum Urmi for posting offensive comments on social media about Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and the interim government. 

A notification issued on Wednesday by Senior Secretary Mokhles Ur Rahman of the Ministry of Public Administration confirmed her dismissal from service following a departmental case.

Previously, Urmi was temporarily suspended and assigned as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) on October 6 last year, with a suspension notice issued the next day. 

The departmental case found her guilty of misconduct under Rule 3(b) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018, resulting in her dismissal. 

At the time of her controversial Facebook post, Urmi was serving as Assistant Commissioner in the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Lalmonirhat.
