Woman, two children murdered in Bhaluka

Two children and their mother were murdered on Monday by slitting their throats in Bhaluka of Mymensingh.  The deceased are Moyna Akhter, 25, her daughter Raisa, 7, and son Nirab, 2. 

This Monday morning, three bodies were recovered from the rented house of Md. Haiyum in the Panashail Road area of Ward No. 7 of the municipality.

Police and locals said that Rafiqul Islam, son of Shantu Mia of Janer Bazar area of Kendua police station in Netrokona, lived in a rented house in Bhaluka upazila town with his wife, two children and younger brother Nazrul Islam. Rafiqul works at the local Russell Spinning Factory. He stayed at the factory on Sunday night. On Monday morning, he returned home from work and found the door locked. At that time, there was no response from inside the house despite many knocks. Later, he broke the lock and entered and saw the bodies of his wife and two children lying on the bed with their throats slit.

On receiving the information, police from Bhaluka police station went to the spot, recovered the bodies and took them to the police station.

Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhaluka Model Police Station, said the bodies of a mother and her two children with their throats slit have been recovered. An investigation is underway to unearth the mystery of the murder.
