Gopalganj curfew continues for 10hrs more from 8pm today

The Gopalganj district administration has extended the curfew for an additional 10 hours to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of lives and property, following a 14-hour relaxation period.

According to a public order issued on Saturday by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Muhammad Kamruzzaman, the curfew will be enforced from 8:00 pm tonight until 6:00 am Sunday.

On Thursday night, the district administration had relaxed the curfew for 14 hours, from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm today.

The administration stated that further decisions regarding the curfew will be made after evaluating the law and order situation in consultation with law enforcement agencies.

The curfew was initially imposed following an attack on a roadside meeting of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in Gopalganj, effective from 8:00 pm on July 16 to 6:00 pm on July 17.

In the second phase, it was extended from 6:00 pm on July 17 to 11:00 am on July 18, with a three-hour break from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on July 18.

The curfew was then re-imposed from 2:00 pm on July 18 until further notice. In the third phase, it was extended from 8:00 pm on Friday to 6:00 am on Saturday.
