Aircraft crash at Milestone School sparks chaos, grief

A Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BJI training plane crashed into Milestone College in Uttara of Dhaka at 1:18 pm on Monday, killing 19 persons and injuring at least 50 others.

The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with burn injuries. 

The crash, which occurred during ongoing classes for grades one to seven, triggered panic among students and teachers as loud explosions and fireballs erupted.

The sudden impact left students in tears, with many fleeing classrooms to the school field in disarray. 

As news spread, distraught parents and relatives flooded the school, forming long queues at the entrance, desperate to find their children. 

Social media footage captured the chaos, showing people with burn injuries running from the building and army vehicles aiding in rescues.

Two platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed for rescue operations and to maintain order. 

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported the plane took off at 1:06 pm before crashing onto the school campus. 

Milestone College’s Public Relations Officer, Shah Bulbul, confirmed damage to a classroom near the canteen, noting that security forces had cordoned off the area, restricting access even to college authorities.

Viral videos showed thick smoke rising from the crash site as students and locals gathered around, amplifying the sense of tragedy and urgency.
