Balloon explosion in Manik Mia Avenue injures 10

A balloon explosion at the '36 July Celebration' at the capital's Manik Mia Avenue has injured at least 10 people on Tuesday afternoon. 

The injured were identified as- Md Mazharul Islam, 27, Md Billal, 45, Md Fahat, 20, Md Munsur Islam, 38, Md Sharif, 32, Md Palash, 21, Md Habibullah, 23, Md Yasin, 25, Md Mishu, 23, and Md Mihat, 17. 

A helicopter-shaped gas balloon was flown at 2:25pm to commemorate the ousting of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, organisers said. A blast occurred during the event.

National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery Resident Surgeon Dr Shaon Bin Rahman told the Daily Samakal that the 10 injured were brought to the institute. They were released after first aid.
