Milestone tragedy: Another child succumbs to burn injuries

Another burn victim in the Milestone jet crash in the capital's Uttara has died after fighting for 33 days for her life.

Tasnia, 15, a student of the Milestone School and College, succumbed to her burn injuries at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) on Saturday. She was an 8th-grade student at the school. 

A total of 36 people have died so far in this incident. 

On July 21, a fighter jet of the Bangladesh Air Force slammed into a two-storey building of the Milestone School and College due to a mechanical fault minutes after taking off around 1pm, killing 34, so far, Health and Family Welfare Ministry sources confirmed.

Pilot of the fighter jet, Flight Lieutenant Towkir Islam, also died in the crash.

After the incident, the school remained closed for nearly two weeks. The campus opened on August 3.
