Cocaine worth Tk130cr seized at Dhaka airport, foreigner arrested

Members of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate seized cocaine worth Tk 130 crore from a foreigner at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital early on Tuesday.

The woman is named Karen Pitula Stafli, a citizen of the Caribbean country Guyana, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate Deputy Director Selina Aktar confirmed. She was arrested at around 2am. 

Selina Aktar said an alert was issued at the airport on a tip-off that a woman was coming from Qatar's Doha with a massive quantity of cocaine. We arrested the woman when she received an on-arrival visa and crossed the Green Channel. We conducted a search and found three plastic boxes. 22 bundles of cocaine were found enclosed in foil paper. 

The weight of the seized cocaine is 8.6 kilograms, which is worth around Tk 130 crores.
