DU observes 49th death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam

The 49th death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was observed on Wednesday at Dhaka University (DU) with due respect and solemnity.

Marking the day, DU authorities organised various programmes. The day's programme began at 6:30 am when Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan, along with teachers, students, officers and employees of the university, gathered at the base of Aparajeyo Bangla.

Later, a procession marched towards the poet's grave and floral wreaths were placed with offering special prayers (Fateha).

Following this, a discussion meeting was held at an open stage beside the poet's grave with Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan in the chair.

In addition, a Qurankhwani was held at the DU central mosque, "Mosjidul Jamia", after Fajr prayers, seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of the National Poet.
