Engineering students now place 5-point demand

Protesting engineering students have rejected the interim government's newly formed committee and announced a revised five-point demand. 

At a press conference on August 27 in front of Dhaka’s InterContinental Hotel, the students vowed to continue their protests until their demands are met.

Speaking at the press conference, Jubayer Ahmed, a BUET civil engineering student, outlined the new demands on behalf of the 'Engineers' Rights Movement.' 

The students warned that they will not end their demonstrations until all demands are fulfilled.

Earlier that day, the Cabinet Division formed a committee to address the professional demands of BSc and diploma engineers amid ongoing protests over conflicting issues. 

BSc engineers from Buet and other universities, who have been blockading Shahbagh intersection for two days, are demanding, among other things, that diploma engineers be barred from using the title "engineer" before their names.

At noon, police used tear gas, sound grenades, batons, and water cannons to disperse engineering university students marching from Minto Road toward the chief adviser’s residence, Jamuna, to press their demands.
