Ex-minister Latif Siddique, others detained at ‘Mancha 71’ event taken to DB hq

Former minister Latif Siddique and several others were detained after tensions erupted during an event organised by 'Manch 71,' a platform of freedom fighters, in the capital on Thursday. Police later brought them to the Detective Branch (DB) headquarters.

The event was being held at the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) at around 11am. After the first speech was delivered, a number of people claiming to be "July Fighters" entered the venue, tore up the event banner and surrounded the event's attendees. 

At around 12:15pm, a team of police arrived and detained at least 15 people, including Latif Siddique, ADC of Police Asaduzzaman confirmed. 

Later, they were taken to the DB headquarters, DB Joint Commissioner (South) Nasirul Islam confirmed.
