123 orgs held blockades 1,604 times in Dhaka: Jahangir

Ever since the interim government took up responsibility, there have been 1,604 blockades on roads of the capital and its surrounding areas, Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said. 

These blockades were held by 124 organisations, he said, following a meeting of the core committee on law and order at his ministry in the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday.

Stressing the fact that such blockades cause heavy traffic congestion and cause suffering, he called for the protesters to hold such demonstrations at Suhrawardy Udyan or any specific ground to lessen people's suffering. 

When asked, the adviser said that if anyone asks for permission, the government will fix a place for them.
