Chamber judge halts HC stay order on DUCSU polls

A Supreme Court chamber judge has halted the High Court stay order on the DUCSU election on Monday. 

Appellate Division Chamber Judge Justice Farah Mahbub gave the directive at 4:42pm, Advocate Shishir Monir told the media. 

As a result of this directive, there remains no legal bar to holding the DUCSU election. 

Earlier the same day, the High Court stayed the DUCSU election till October 30. The order came following a writ petition challenging the candidacy of SM Farhad Hossain, the General Secretary candidate from the Shikkharthi Oikyojote. 

The order, accompanied by a rule, was issued on Monday by a bench comprising Justice Habibul Ghani and Justice Sheikh Tahsin Ali.

The DUCSU and Hall elections were initially scheduled for September 9.
