Student who voiced 'rape threat' temporarily expelled

A Dhaka University student was temporarily expelled for six months after an investigation against him confirmed that he made a rape threat against a female student running in the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election.

The matter was forwarded to the DU Anti-Harassment cell for further investigation, according to a release signed by Md Rafiqul Islam, Director of Public Relations, DU.

The student is Ali Husen, a resident of the university’s Shahid Sergeant Zahurul Huq Hall, a student of the Sociology department, session 2020-2021.

Two separate probe committees were formed on Tuesday to investigate the matter. The DUCSU election commission and the university's proctorial team formed two and three-member probe bodies, respectively.
