377 Bangladeshis among migrants arrested in Malaysia

Malaysia's Immigration Department arrested 770 migrants from a gambling den in the Bukit Bintang area of Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday night. Among them are 377 Bangladeshi men. 

The Immigration Department conducted a special operation from 7:30pm to 10:30pm, following public complaints over the past three weeks about the presence of foreigners who gathered at the location for social activities, Malay Mail reports. 

During the operation, law enforcers managed to conduct checks on 2,445 individuals, comprising 1,600 foreigners and 845 locals. Among them, 770 foreigners were detained for various immigration offences, including not having identification documents, overstaying and possessing unrecognised cards or passes. 377 Bangladeshi men, 235 Myanmar men, 72 Nepalese men, 58 Indian men, 17 Indonesian men and two women, as well as three men and six women from other countries, were detained. 

The detainees were aged between 21 and 65. They were taken to the Putrajaya Immigration Department for initial screening before being placed at the Bukit Jalil and Lenggeng Immigration Depots for further investigation.
