Jahangir instructs police to remain neutral, serve public interest

Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Sunday instructed members of the police force to remain neutral and committed to serving the people, rather than aligning with any political party.

"Don't take sides with any political party. Instead, focus on fulfilling the expectations of the public," he said while addressing a training program aimed at enhancing the skills and capacity of police personnel for professional conduct during election duties.

The event was held at the Rajarbagh Police Auditorium in the capital, where the Home Adviser was present as the chief guest.

He emphasised the importance of impartiality in law enforcement, warning against sycophancy and political favouritism.

"Stay away from political influence. If you start flattering now, your influence will fade once the election ends. Those who stay reserved will then take control," he cautioned.

Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Md. Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, Senior Home Secretary Nasimul Ghani, and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam, among others, were present.
