Health officials report 2 deaths, 573 fresh cases of dengue inflection overnight

Health officials on Monday said they recorded 573 fresh cases of dengue infection, killing at least two persons in the past 24 hours.

"During the period, (of the 573) 104 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 83 in Chattogram division, 143 in Dhaka division (excluding the capital), 80 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 73 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 31 in Khulna division, 14 in Mymensingh division, 44 in Rajshahi division and one in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue infection this year, Bangladesh has witnessed 137 deaths, while the disease has infected 34,984.

Last year, the disease claimed 575 lives and infected 1,01,214 people in the country.
