DUCSU Election: Sadik on the way to victory for VP, Farhad for GS

Sadik Kayem and SM Farhad of Islami of Chhatra Shibir are leading the race for Vice President (VP) and General Secretary (GS), respectively, in the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election.

By 5:30 am on Wednesday, results from 13 halls across six polling stations were announced.

These include Amar Ekushey Hall, Fazlul Haque Hall, and Shahidullah Hall at the Curzon Hall center; Shamsunnahar Hall at the University Laboratory School center; Jagannath Hall, Salimullah Hall, and Zahurul Haque Hall at the Physical Education Center; Rokeya Hall at the TSC center; Bijoy Ekattor Hall, Muhsin Hall, and Sir A.F. Rahman Hall at the Senate Bhaban center; and Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall and Kabi Jasimuddin Hall at the Udayan School and College center.

For the VP position, Sadik Kayem secured 10,064 votes, while Abidul Islam Khan of Chhatra Dal received 4,350 votes, and independent candidate Umama Fatima bagged 2,260 votes.

For the GS post, SM Farhad obtained 7,323 votes, followed by Sheikh Tanvir Hamim of Chhatra Dal with 3,881 votes, and Abu Baker Majumder of Bangladesh Gonotantrik Chhatra Sangsad with 1,289 votes.

Voting for DUCSU and Hall Sangsad took place from 8 am to 4 pm on Tuesday, with ballot counting starting thereafter.

Results from the Curzon Hall center were announced at 1:45 am.
