Distribution of CUCSU nomination papers begins

The distribution of nomination papers for the elections to Chittagong University Central Students' Union (CUCSU) and hall unions has begun. 

CUCSU Chief Election Commissioner Prof Monir Uddin confirmed the matter to the Daily Samakal on Sunday morning. 

There are three separate nomination paper collection booths for the central, hall union, and female students. 

Nomination papers can be submitted from September 15 to 17. They will be verified on September 18. The primary list of candidates will be revealed on September 21. Candidates can withdraw by September 23. The final list will be published on September 25. 

Each form for the central costs Tk 300, and the hall union forms cost Tk 200.

CUCSU and hall union polls will be held on October 12. This upcoming election carries historical significance. While CUCSU elections are intended to be held annually, the last one took place on February 8, 1990, with Nazim Uddin elected as Vice President and Azim Uddin as General Secretary. 

That election was held two decades after the university's founding in 1966. Since then, CUCSU has remained inactive for 35 years. With the 2025 election, the student body is poised to reclaim its democratic platform and voice on campus.
