Two more lockers of Hasina found in Agrani Bank

After Pubali Bank, this time, two more lockers of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have been found in Agrani Bank. 

The Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has found two lockers in the main branch of the bank in Motijheel in the capital. 

The CIC seized the two lockers on Wednesday based on a secret tip-off. 

CIC Director General Ahsan Habib told Daily Samakal that the two lockers have already been seized. 

According to NBR sources, the numbers of the two lockers are 751 and 753 respectively. 

And the key numbers of the two lockers are 200 and 196 respectively. 

NBR officials believe that the two lockers may contain important documents including gold ornaments. 

In this regard, a senior officer of the NBR's intelligence cell told Daily Samakal that Sheikh Hasina's two lockers have been seized for the sake of a larger investigation. 

Earlier, on September 10, the CIC seized a locker belonging to Sheikh Hasina at the Motijheel Corporate Branch of Pubali Bank located in the Sena Kalyan Bhavan in the capital. 

The locker number is 128. Along with the locker, two bank accounts of Sheikh Hasina were found in that branch of Pubali Bank. One account has Tk 12 lakh FDR while another account has Tk 44 lakh. 

Income tax detectives said that there is a total of Tk 56 lakh in those two accounts. There is a ban on withdrawing money from these accounts. 

On August 5, 2024, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country for India during the student-public uprising. 

After that, the interim government came to power and investigated Sheikh Hasina and her family members for tax evasion and corruption. As part of this, the NBR seized three lockers belonging to Sheikh Hasina in two state-owned banks.
