CUCSU elections deferred to October 15

The Chittagong University Central and Hall Union elections, known as CUCSU elections, have been rescheduled from October 12 to October 15. 

The decision was made during a meeting of the Election Commission on Monday afternoon. 

Professor AKM Ariful Haque Siddiqui, Election Commissioner and Member Secretary, announced the change at a press conference held at the university’s CUCSU Bhaban.

The deferment follows feedback from a meeting with candidates and students, where concerns were raised about the short four-day campaign period after the final candidate list was published. 

To address this, the Election Commission extended the election date to October 15. 

Additionally, all university exams scheduled from October 12 to 18 will be deferred, though classes will proceed as normal. 

The deadline for withdrawing nomination papers has also been extended by one day to Wednesday, while the rest of the election schedule remains unchanged.

Professor Siddiqui noted that seven candidates had withdrawn their nominations for personal reasons by 2:00pm on Monday.
