Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant set for experimental launch in December

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Advisor to the Ministry of Science and Technology, announced that the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is slated for an experimental launch in December. 

Speaking to reporters at the Finance Ministry, he noted that while Bangladesh had proposed a November launch to Russia, the latter confirmed December as the target.

He added that the plant’s fuel has already been delivered, and a team from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has provided recommendations after an inspection. 

These are currently being implemented, with the IAEA scheduled to return for final approval. The per-unit electricity price for the plant is yet to be determined.
