Former MP Nur Uddin Chowdhury's house set ablaze again in Lakshmipur

Angry locals set fire to the already-damaged house of former MP Nur Uddin Chowdhury Nayan in the Uttar Tehmani area of Lakshmipur town on Wednesday afternoon.

The five-story residence, located in the Lakshmipur-2 (Raipur) constituency, was previously torched on August 4, a day before the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government during the August 5 mass uprising. The house has remained abandoned since then.

According to locals, a group of agitated individuals gathered in Uttar Tehmani on Wednesday and set fire to the ground floor of the deserted house.

Mehedi Hasan, a local youth, stated, "The houses of autocrats and their allies will be destroyed. If they try to return, we will resist. They will not be given any chance to come back."

The Lakshmipur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Abdul Monnaf, confirmed that the house was severely damaged in the August 4 fire and was targeted again today.

"We have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident," he said.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage and collecting eyewitness statements to identify those responsible.

Additional police forces have been deployed to manage tensions in the area.
