Stormy weather likely in 8 regions

Stormy weather is likely in eight regions in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said on Sunday. 

"Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary south/southeasterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Faridpur and Khulna," according to the BMD inland riverports warning.

Riverports in these regions were advised to hoist cautionary signal no one (R) one. 

Meanwhile, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at many places across the country, BMD added in a separate bulletin. 

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions and at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions," according to the regular BMD weather forecast. 

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the Met Office predicted.

On Saturday, the highest temperature recorded was 34.0 degrees Celsius at Srimangal in Sylhet division, while the lowest temperature of today was 21.5 degrees Celsius at Tetulia in Rangpur division.

The maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6 am on Sunday was recorded at 108 millimetres (mm) at Tetulia in Rangpur division.

In Dhaka, the sun will set at 5:43 pm on Sunday and will rise at 5:52 am on Monday.
