49th BCS exam today

The 49th BCS (Special) MCQ written exam is being held on Friday, from 10 am to 12 pm.

According to the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC), the exam is being conducted solely at the Dhaka center. Seat arrangements and key instructions are available on the PSC website (www.bpsc.gov.bd).

Over 3.12 lakh applications were received for this exam, aimed at recruiting lecturers for government colleges, with approximately 456 candidates competing for each of the 683 available posts.

To address the ongoing teacher shortage in the education cadre, the PSC announced this special BCS on July 21. Online applications were accepted from July 22 to August 22, with fee payments allowed until 11:59 pm on August 25.

The recruitment includes 653 lecturer positions across various subjects in government general colleges and 30 in government teacher training colleges.

The highest number of vacancies is in the Bengali department (61), followed by Political Science (55), English (50), Economics (40), Islamic History and Culture (32), and Philosophy and Chemistry (30 each).
