JaPa-Police clash at Kakrail

A Jatiya Party (JaPa) event at the capital's Kakrail ended in a clash with police on Saturday. 

At around 3pm, leaders and activists of the party erected a temporary stage and started the event on the road. GM Quader, Shamim Haider Patowary and other leaders were present at the venue, while other leaders and activists joined with processions. 

As the party did not have permission to hold such an event, police asked them to vacate the premises, which escalated into a clash at around 3:45pm.

At one point, a round of chase and counter-chase ensued between police and JaPa leaders and activists. Police lobbed sound grenades and tear shells to bring the situation under control. Later, the JaPa men left the place. Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner confirmed the matter to the Daily Samakal.
