Shapla symbol cannot be allocated to NCP: EC Secy

The Shapla symbol cannot be allocated to the National Citizen Party (NCP) as it is not allowed in the rules, Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Akhtar Ahmed has said. 

"NCP has to choose a symbol from the EC-approved list by October 19. Otherwise, the commission will decide to allocate a symbol to NCP," he said at a press briefing at the Nirbachan Bhaban at Agargaon in the capital on Tuesday afternoon. 

"We discussed with NCP for two to two and a half hours. They asked for an explanation, and we gave them an explanation. EC maintains its stance on the Shapla symbol," he added.
