Fire at RMG factory and warehouse in Mirpur: 9 bodies recovered

Members of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) have recovered nine bodies from an RMG factory in Mirpur where a fire broke out earlier on Tuesday. 

FSCD Media Cell Official Talha Bin Jasim confirmed the matter at around 4:15pm. The bodies will be handed over to the police, he said. Their identities could not be immediately confirmed.

The nine bodies were recovered from two floors of the RMG factory, FSCD Director Lt Col (Operation and Maintenance) Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury told the media. 

The fire broke out at an RMG factory and a chemical warehouse next to each other at Rupnagar Shialbari area of Mirpur at around 11:40am. Twelve firefighting units are now trying to bring the blaze under control. A variety of chemicals, such as bleaching powder, plastic, and hydrogen peroxide, were stored in the warehouse. As a result, dousing the fire is consuming a lot of time.
