JnU Chhatra Dal leader stabbed to death in Dhaka’s Armanitola

A Jagannath University (JnU) student, Zubayed Hossain, was brutally stabbed to death in Armanitola, Dhaka, on Sunday evening. 

Hailing from Cumilla, Zubayed was a student in the Department of Statistics for the 2019-20 academic year. 

He served as president of the Cumilla District Student Welfare Association and was a member of the convening committee of JnU’s Chhatra Dal unit.

The attack occurred while Zubayed was heading to a tuition. His bloodied body was discovered on the stairs of a building in Water Pump Lane, Armanitola, inside a third-floor flat where he provided tuition. 

Bangshal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam confirmed the incident, stating that preliminary findings suggest Zubayed was stabbed to death. 

The exact cause of death is still under investigation.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing his body on the third-floor staircase, with bloodstains marking the stairs from the first to the third floor. 

JnU Proctor Professor Dr. Muhammad Tajammul Haque expressed grief over the incident, noting that the cause of death remains unclear. 

He has directed police to review CCTV footage and is personally visiting the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
