Students block road at Farmgate to demand road safety

Students have blocked the road at the capital's Farmgate with five demands, including road safety, on Thursday afternoon. 

Two days ago, a man named Sifat was run over by a truck in the area. He was an employee at a local establishment. Public outrage has been building since then. On Thursday, students gathered on the street and halted traffic. 

Confirming the matter, DMP Tejgaon Division Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Ibn Mizan said they are in discussion with the students. 

A case has been filed in connection with Sifat's murder, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the culprit, he added. 

The five demands put forth by the students are- justice for Sifat, reclaiming the footpaths, implementing the parking law, controlling vehicles, and ensuring road safety infrastructure.
