BNP leader killed, two others injured in shooting by terrorists in Raozan

Alamgir Alam (55), a BNP leader, was fatally shot dead by assailants near the Kaikobad Ahmed Jame Mosque in Ward No. 9, Raozan Municipality of Chattogram around 5 pm on Saturday.

Two Jubo Dal leaders, Riaz and Aqib, were also injured in the attack.

Raozan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam Bhuiyan confirmed the casualties.

Alamgir, son of Abdus Sattar from Siddique Chowdhury house in East Raozan, was a prominent BNP figure.

According to Alamgir’s son, Asfaet Hossain, the family had visited his aunt’s house in Rashid Para. On their way back, Alamgir was shot dead in front of the mosque.

OC Monirul reported that Alamgir’s bullet-riddled body was found by the roadside, and the attackers fled the scene.

The body was recovered and taken to the police station, and later the body was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.

BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Golam Akbar Khondaker condemned the killing, noting that Alamgir had recently been released after 12 years in prison during the Awami League regime.

He demanded the immediate arrest and severe punishment of the perpetrators.
