Pedestrian crushed under 'heavy object' falling from Metro Rail pillar at Farmgate

A pedestrian died in the Farmgate area of the capital when a 'heavy metallic object' fell from a Metro Rail pillar on Sunday afternoon. 

The incident happened at around noon in front of the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in Farmgate. 

Tejgaon Police Station duty officer ASI Md Hannan confirmed the matter of one death to the Daily Samakal. 

The deceased could not be identified immediately. It is estimated that he is around 35-40 years old. 

Eyewitnesses said the man was passing by when the heavy object fell from the pillar and hit his head, critically injuring him. Locals brought him to a hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
