Govt clarifies information adviser's remarks to address confusion

Information Adviser Mahfuz Alam spoke at the 'Meet the Reporters' programme on Sunday hosted by the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), stating that the Advisory Council's activities would conclude by November, alongside efforts to complete 13 reforms under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. 

His comments, as reported in the media, led to confusion, prompting the interim government to issue a clarifying statement on Monday.

The government's statement clarified that the reform and policy formulation processes are ongoing and not bound by a November deadline. The Advisory Council will continue its regular duties and meetings until it transitions responsibilities to an elected government.

Also present at the DRU event were the chief adviser’s press secretary, Shafiqul Alam, and senior assistant press secretary, Faiz Ahmed.
