3 beaten to death on suspicion of cow theft in Gobindaganj

Three people were allegedly beaten to death on suspicion of cow theft in Gobindaganj, Gaibandha.
Locals claim that all the deceased were members of an organised cow theft gang from Shibganj upazila of neighboring Bogura district.
Police said that after receiving information about the mass beating, the police reached the spot on Sunday morning. One person was rescued from there with serious injuries and sent to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex. He later died while undergoing treatment.
Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gobindaganj Police Station Bulbul Islam said that around 2:30 am, three people were stealing three cows from the cowshed of a person in Nasirabad village. When the locals chased them, they jumped into a pond on the side of the road to save their lives. Later, the locals caught hold of them and beat them severely. Two people died on the spot.
