Thousands of primary teachers gather at Shaheed Minar with 3 demands

Thousands of Government Primary School teachers have gathered at the capital's Central Shaheed Minar with three demands, including ensuring the 10th-grade pay scale on Saturday morning. 

Their demonstration will continue till all demands are met, teachers have said. 

The three demands of demonstrating teachers are- elevating all the assistant teachers to 10th 10th-grade pay scale, higher grade, and ensuring the right to promotion.

As per the Directorate of Primary Education, there are more than 65,000 Government Primary Schools in the country, and almost 3 lakh 84 thousand teachers are employed there. The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on April 24 decided to elevate head teachers to the 10th grade from the 11th grade, and teachers from the 13th to the 12th grade of the national pay scale. However, assistant teachers are not satisfied with this decision.
