No fear centring November 13 'Dhaka Lockdown': DMP Commissioner

DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali stated that there is no cause for fear regarding November 13, urging residents not to shelter strangers. 

He advised checking motorcycles and vehicles thoroughly before renting them and ensuring they do not fall into the hands of miscreants.

He made the remarks during a press conference on the ‘current law and order situation in Dhaka Metropolitan City’ held at the DMP Media Center on Minto Road in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.

The Commissioner emphasised preventing miscreants from renting others’ motorcycles and vehicles by verifying tenants. 

He urged the public to call the national emergency service 999 if they notice anyone suspicious.

He further reported that 17 cases were filed and 50 people arrested in Dhaka over the past 24 hours due to cocktail explosions. 

Since October, the Awami League—despite a ban on its political activities—has conducted 14 flash marches, leading to 552 arrests by the DMP in Dhaka.

The Dhaka Police Commissioner also assured that the people of Dhaka will resist anyone engaging in sabotage.
