1 drowns while fleeing after arson in Dhaka

A man fell into the Turag River and died after he set fire to a bus at the capital's Beribadh area and was running away. 

Another man was held and handed over to the police, Shah Ali Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Mohammad Golam Azam confirmed. 

The OC said that a Kiranmala Paribahan bus was torched in front of the Tamanna Park at Beribadh at around 10:30pm on Thursday. Locals chased one of the men responsible for the arson. He fell into the Turag River and died. Police could not confirm his identity. 

Meanwhile, locals captured another man, allegedly involved in torching the bus, named Rudro Muhammad, 20. Police have taken him into custody. 

A unit of the Fire Service and Civil Defence brought the fire under control. The seats and glasses of the bus were ruined in the fire.
