5 killed, including woman, as bus rams parked truck in Sitakunda

Five people, including a woman, died and at least 15 others were injured when a passenger bus rear-ended a parked truck on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sitakunda upazila on Sunday evening.

The accident occurred around dusk at Bottala in Mirerhat area, according to Inspector (Investigation) Md. Alamgir of Sitakunda Model Police Station.

“Four victims died instantly at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries en route to hospital,” the officer said.

The injured, several in critical condition, were rushed to Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex.

Police and highway police have launched a joint investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision.
