Bangladesh now has 12.77 crore voters

The Election Commission (EC) has released the final voter list for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election, with a total of nearly 12.77 crore registered voters.

Speaking to reporters this afternoon at the Election Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka, EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed announced that the total number of voters now stands at 127,695,183.

This reflects a voter growth rate of 3.20 percent, he added.

Breaking down the figures, there are 64,814,907 male voters, 62,879,042 female voters, and 1,234 third-gender voters.

All citizens who turned 18 by October 31, 2025, have been included in the updated list.

Compared to March 2 this year, when the voter count was 123,732,274, the list shows an increase of over 3.96 million voters. Male voters have grown by 2.29 percent, while female voters have risen by a higher 4.16 percent.

Explaining the notable surge, the EC Secretary said, “This substantial increase was achieved through door-to-door data collection, widespread awareness campaigns, and active efforts to encourage citizen participation.”

Akhtar Ahmed described the updated voter list as a key milestone in the preparations for the forthcoming election.
