Fire breaks out at chemical factory in Gazipur

A massive fire erupted at Standard Finish Oil Company Limited, a chemical factory located in the Bagher Bazar area of Gazipur Sadar Upazila, around 1:00 pm on Wednesday.

The blaze started suddenly and spread rapidly, causing panic among factory workers and nearby residents.

According to Rabiul Islam, duty officer at Rajendrapur Model Fire Service, nine fire units from various stations have been deployed and are actively working to bring the fire under control.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large plume of flames rising from the factory shortly after noon, prompting immediate calls to the fire service.

Nur Alam, in-charge of Rajendrapur Model Fire Service, confirmed that seven units from Joydebpur, Rajendrapur, and Sreepur stations are among those responding to the incident.

As of now, no casualties have been reported. Efforts to fully extinguish the fire are ongoing.
