Earthquake: 3 dead in Puran Dhaka

Three pedestrians died in the Bangshal area of Puran Dhaka in the capital when the rooftop railing of a building broke and fell on them during an earthquake. 

The incident happened in the Kosaituli area on Friday morning. Two of the deceased were identified as Rafiul, 21, and Sobuj, 30. The other deceased could not be identified. Their bodies were recovered and taken to the Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital. 

Confirming the matter, Bangshal Police Station Duty Officer SI Ashish Kumar told the Daily Samakal that the rooftop railing of 20/C building on the KP Ghosh Street in Kosaituli broke and fell down, killing three pedestrians. 

Locals said the three pedestrians died on the spot as the railing of the five-storey building fell on them. Members of the fire service and police arrived at the spot promptly. 

Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital Ward Master Sazzad Hossain said the bodies are kept in the hospital's morgue. Primarily, it appears that they died after being hit on the head by falling bricks.
