Earthquake: 5 dead, 208 injured countrywide

At least five people died and 208 others were injured in various places across the country on Friday after a 5.7-magnitude earthquake. 

Among the dead are three pedestrians in Dhaka's Bangshal, a child in Rupganj of Narayanganj, and an elderly woman in Malita village in Palash. 

As per the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 208 people have received treatment at various hospitals at the district level after being injured in the earthquake. 

Doctors at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said 18 injured people were admitted to the hospital in the aftermath of the quake. 

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has expressed profound shock and sorrow at the reports of deaths and injuries in house collapses and other incidents triggered by the earthquake.
