Fire at Karail slum, 16 firefighting units working to tame blaze

A devastating fire broke out in Karail slum on Tuesday afternoon.

The blaze started around 5:22 pm and rapidly spread through the densely packed homes, quickly turning into a major incident.

Fire Service headquarters received the alert at 5:22 pm and initially dispatched 11 units. However, severe traffic congestion in Dhaka delayed their arrival — the first seven units only reached the scene at 6:05 pm, more than 40 minutes after the report.

Firefighters immediately began battling the flames, and additional units were rushed in. As of the latest update, a total of 16 fire service units are on the ground working to bring the fire under control.
