Portfolio reshuffle: Adilur gets local government, Rizwana information, Asif Nazrul sports

The ministries previously handled by Advisors Asif Mahmud and Mahfuz Alam, who tendered their resignations from the Advisory Council, have been reassigned. 

Following directives from the Office of the Chief Adviser, the Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification to this effect on Thursday, simultaneously allocating ministerial responsibilities to three other advisers.

According to the notification, Syeda Rizwana Hasan has been assigned the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; Dr Asif Nazrul has been given charge of the Ministry of Youth and Sports; and Adilur Rahman Khan has been entrusted with the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.

Previously, Asif Mahmud was responsible for the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) as well as the Ministry of Youth and Sports, while Mahfuz Alam oversaw the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. 

The portfolios of these three ministries have now been redistributed.

Dr Asif Nazrul continues to hold additional responsibility for the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment and the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. 

Adilur Rahman Khan retains charge of the Ministry of Industries and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, while Syeda Rizwana Hasan continues to oversee the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources.

The ministries directly under the Chief Advisor's supervision remain the Cabinet Division, Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces Division, Ministry of Public Administration, and Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology.
