Tarique Rahman touches the soil of the country

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman made a poignant gesture upon returning to his homeland, removing his shoes and touching the soil barefoot in a moment of deep emotion.

On Thursday, around midday, the Biman Bangladesh Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (flight BG-202) carrying Tarique Rahman landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, following a brief stopover in Sylhet.

Senior BNP leaders warmly welcomed him at the airport, where his mother-in-law, Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu, presented him with a floral garland.

Tarique Rahman then greeted party leaders and activists before proceeding to the grassy area outside the airport. There, he took off his shoes, stood barefoot on the ground, and picked up a handful of soil—an act that evoked strong emotions among those present.

This symbolic return marks the end of Tarique Rahman's long exile in London and signals a significant moment for the Bangladesh Nationalist Party ahead of upcoming elections.
