General point to point inflation reaches 8.49% in December

Bangladesh's point-to-point general inflation rate edged up to 8.49 percent in December 2025, from 8.29 percent in November 2025, according to the latest figures released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The modest rise was driven by increases in both food and non-food inflation categories.

Food inflation climbed slightly to 7.71 percent in December from 7.36 percent the previous month, while non-food inflation rose to 9.13 percent from 9.08 percent.

Inflation also recorded marginal increases in both rural and urban areas during the month.
