Emergency instructions to all hospitals, evening rounds mandatory in pediatric medicine wards

The Directorate General of Health Services has issued urgent emergency instructions to all hospitals across the country, making evening rounds mandatory in children's and medicine wards to combat the outbreak of pneumonia, respiratory problems, diarrhea, and other winter-related diseases during the winter season. 

This directive, sent on Monday, aims to ensure safe and quality patient treatment in the public interest.

According to the directive, any broken windows, doors, or openings allowing cold air into hospital premises must be repaired and renovated promptly, with relevant authorities directed to take necessary actions under their own management.

Hospitals are further instructed to ensure an adequate supply of blankets and mosquito nets for admitted patients, while maintaining sufficient stocks of nebulizer solutions, antibiotics, oxygen, oral saline, IV fluids, and other essential medicines required for treating winter-related illnesses.

Special emphasis has been placed on conducting mandatory evening rounds in children's and medicine wards. 

Additionally, parents of patients should receive health education on preventing winter diseases and basic preventive measures.

Hospitals are required to submit daily reports on winter-related diseases to the MIS control room of the Directorate General of Health Services, with hospital heads tasked to monitor the proper implementation of these measures.

The DGHS has requested all concerned hospital authorities to take appropriate steps for strict compliance with these instructions, noting that the matter has been approved by the Director General.
