Interim govt surrenders to bureaucracy: TIB

The interim government has effectively surrendered to the bureaucracy, according to Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB).

Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has raised serious concerns regarding eight ordinances promulgated by the interim government in the context of its reform efforts.

TIB's Executive Director, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, stated, "The interim government has fallen short in executing nearly all the initiatives undertaken under the banner of reforms. In practice, they have surrendered to the bureaucracy. The critical question is why this surrender occurred and where the underlying weaknesses lie. However, I lack a precise answer, as I do not have firsthand insight into the internal decision-making processes of the government."

He made these remarks during a press conference held at TIB's office in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, on Monday. 

The event was titled 'Reform Aversion in the Formulation of the Interim Government's Objectives.'
